Sheridan’s boyfriend, 26-year-old Sean Goe, of Plain Township, has been arrested.

Sheridan had been missing since Tuesday afternoon, when Stark County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a welfare check at her apartment in the 4100 block of Orchard Dale Drive Northwest.

They found the apartment empty with the door open, and there were “suspicious areas” found inside and evidence of foul play.

While waiting on a search warrant, deputies said they noticed a maroon Jeep Liberty, believed to be registered in Sheridan’s name, heading down Guilford Avenue Northwest.

Sheriff’s deputies stopped the vehicle, but the driver, identified as Goe, ran off on foot, the sheriff’s office said. The man was the victim’s live-in boyfriend, police said during a Wednesday press conference.

Investigators said after securing the search warrant for Sheridan’s home, they found evidence leading them to believe a homicide had occurred in the apartment. Canton sanitation workers found her body in the southwest part of the city just before 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, according to the release.

Goe was arrested at a homeless shelter Wednesday morning. He’s now charged with burglary and grand theft of a firearm, as well as a domestic violence charge involving Sheridan.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of Raychel’s loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” Sheriff George Maier is quoted in a news release. He commended deputies for a swift investigation that led to “another step towards justice and closure for the family.”

Goe is being held in the Stark County jail on a $1 million bond, according to a Wednesday afternoon news release.

Anyone with information on the investigation is asked to call deputies at 330-430-3800, or use the sheriff’s office’s mobile app, found on any smartphone’s app store by searching “Stark Sheriff Ohio.”
