Society Brands , an e-commerce company headquartered in Canton, has signed a multi-year lease for a 30,000-square-foot warehouse in Jackson Township. The expansion is expected to create more than 30 jobs.

The warehouse at 7376 Whipple Ave. NW will be "fully operational" by the end of July, according to Society Brands' announcement. The company, which owns 12 e-commerce brands, also has a warehouse in New Hampshire and uses third-party logistics providers for storage and shipping.

“Society Brands is in the strongest position since inception and, as we grow, it has necessitated the need to expand warehouse operations to serve our brands and customers,” Michael Sirpilla, co-founder and CEO, said in a prepared statement. "Our commitment to support local community economic development and create jobs in Stark County was at the forefront of our decision to locate our second warehouse facility in the area."

Sirpilla co-founded the company with his brother, Justin Sirpilla. Society Brands has primarily acquired online retailers in the health and personal care business, which accounts for about 75% of Society Brands' annual revenue of more than $100 million.

Dan and Bob DeHoff of the Impact Development Co. facilitated the lease agreement, details of which were not disclosed.

“It’s great for the Stark County community to have a company like Society Brands locally and we’re thrilled to have them in this facility," Dan DeHoff, co-founder and CEO of the Impact Development Co., said in a prepared statement. "Michael and Justin’s vision to build a local foundation in Northeast Ohio aligns with Impact Development Co.’s mission, so it was a perfect fit."

    Local companies receive national recognition

Newsweek recently ranked the Aultman Health Foundation and Timken Co. among its " Greatest Workplaces ."

Newsweek's top workplaces ranking was based on a survey of more than 250,000 employees during 2023 and 2022 and other publicly available information collected by Plant-A Insights Group. The companies were evaluated on factors that included compensation, benefits, company culture, diversity and work-life balance.

Aultman received a star rating of four-and-a-half out of five, and Timken received four stars on the Newsweek list.

Aultman also recently received the American Heart Association's Get With the Guidelines-Stroke Gold Plus recognition for the hospital's treatment of stroke patients.

"Aultman Hospital is committed to providing excellent state-of-the-art care to its patients and community,” Santosh Ramanathan, neurohospitalist and Aultman stroke medical director, said in a prepared statement.

The U.S. News & World Report also named Timken as one of the " Best Companies to Work For." The ranking evaluated companies in the Russell 3000 Index with at least 75 reviews from the United States on Glassdoor in recent years.

"These honors recognize our commitment to a strong, diverse work culture with a focus on continuous growth and career development opportunities for our world-class team of problem solvers," Natasha Pollock, Timken's vice president of human resources, said in a prepared statement.

Party rental business opens Alliance-area location

Sunshine Party and Event Rentals , which is based in St. Clair Township, has opened a new warehouse just east of Alliance at 23649 Harrisburg Westville Road.

The new location will house inventory such as inflatables, dunk tanks, games, and tables and chairs. It will benefit those who live nearby but outside the 10-mile delivery radius from the original location, according to the company's announcement.

"For years, Northeast Ohio customers have expressed a desire for access to an event company that can provide the best inflatables, tents, and interactive games for a diverse audience,” owner Justus Smith said in a prepared statement. “Our new Alliance location will help and fulfill that need.”

Because of limited staff at the new location, some larger tents and inflatables will only be available from the East Liverpool-area warehouse and will be subject to distance fees. More information can be found at sunshinepartyrentals.com or by calling 330-932-8822
