Residents of Northeastern Ohio have claimed that they witnessed an incredible miracle . Visitors to the Basilica of St. John the Baptist in Canton claimed that they saw a statue of Our Lady of Fatima open and then close its eyes .

The statue is currently being brought on a tour spreading the message of the saint. The alleged miraculous occurrence happened on Friday, August 2.

President of the World Apostolate of Fatima USA Katie Moran has claimed that she captured pictures of the state of its eyes both open and closed. This particular statue depiction was commissioned in 1947.

It was inspired by the story of Venerable Sister Lucia, one of three children in Fatima, Portugal, who reported seeing The Virgin Mary in 1917. The three children claimed that Mary revealed prophecies of war and details of hell.

Moran also explained the story of the "miracle of the sun" which was believed to be the event foretold by Mary. "When the sun was dancing in the sky, everyone was looking up and then suddenly it started plummeting to the earth," she said.

She revealed to Fox 8 that she was taking photos of the statue to post on social media when she noticed the miraculous eyes. "I took it and thought, ‘that’s really nice,’ and I took one more to be sure and when I looked at it, the eyes were closed and I go, ‘wow!’," she said.

"For those who believe, no proof is necessary. for those who don’t, no proof is possible.it's faith and I believe."

People have also claimed in the past that the statue has cured illnesses that doctors couldn't.
