Cantonment man arrested after threatening general magistrate on social media: ECSO

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. ( WKRG ) — A Cantonment man was arrested Tuesday after he made social media threats toward a Florida general magistrate ahead of his custody case scheduled for July 24, according to an Escambia County Affidavit.

42-year-old Jason Lee Sherman was arrested on July 23 and charged with second-degree felony intimidation.

According to the affidavit, Sherman threatened General Magistrate Keith McIver through multiple posts on X, previously known as Twitter.

One post read, “I will say, lord guide my knife into that man because you stand between me and my son and the lord tells me. I must be with him,” the affidavit said.

Sherman also posted statements saying he was “prepared to die on Wednesday” and that he was “willing to kill people” because he has been unable to see his son, according to the affidavit.

Sherman also claimed that McIver had previously told Sherman he was not sane enough to see his son, the affidavit said.

In a video posted to X, Sherman allegedly said, “I have zero money. The only thing that’s going to make me happy now is thoughts of manslaughter while I run around with swords and s*** and think about killing people in a couple of days.”

The affidavit also said Sherman told a Social Security employee he was going to “come down to the office and teach knife fights in the parking lot,” after the staff allegedly told him that he did not exist and they were not paying him.

Sherman was still in jail Wednesday morning.
