Roosevelt Road islands set to be removed
Forest Park is advertising bids for a contractor to remove three islands in the middle of Roosevelt Road. Along a 370-foot stretch — near 7239, 7410, 7623 and 7635 Roosevelt Road — the islands now consist of a decorative concrete wall atop a raised median. Inside the wall sit several trees, shrubs and landscaping elements.

New Residential Development Coming to Corner of Weber Road & 135th Street
The land at the southeast corner of Weber Road and 135th Street will soon be transformed into the newest Romeoville neighborhood and be shared by young and old alike. The plan calls for a senior living center and Class A garden style apartments. Buildings will use color and quality finishes in a contemporary architectural style with post-modern influences: flat roofs, varying parapet heights, arched entrances, and black window frames. The structures will be anchored by limestone and different colored masonry. There will be a host of amenities in this development, including three ponds, a 7,500 square foot clubhouse, outdoor pool, dog park, five butterfly gardens, plenty of native plants, and infrastructure for electric charging stations.

Giant Olmec sculptures have been heading into DuPage County throughout June for the outdoor exhibit, “Olmec Trails: Culture and Legacy.”. The new exhibition features large-scale Mesoamerican Olmec heads, hand-painted by 33 artists across North America. The project was started in late 2022 by the Mexican Cultural Center DuPage and Meztli, Mexico, in partnership with the College of DuPage Public Art Project and the DuPage Convention & Visitors Bureau.

As of 6/29, the adult mosquito treatment has been rescheduled due to weather. It will now occur during the evening of Sunday, June 30. Commission Recommends Approval of Coldwell Banker Parking Lot

City Hosting Information Meeting Regarding Upcoming Road Work Projects
The City of Geneva’s 2024 street improvement program is scheduled to start in mid to late July with eight resurfacing and drainage projects on the docket. Residents looking to get more details on the upcoming construction are invited to an informational meeting at 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 10 at the Geneva Public Works Department, 1800 South St. Public Works staff will provide an overview of the construction activity and will be available to answer questions.
