CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (July 1, 2024) – On June 29, the Coastal Credit Union Foundation and Habitat for Humanity of Orange County celebrated the nonprofit’s newest homebuyers in the Gattis Court community in Chapel Hill. Officials from the Town of Chapel Hill joined representatives from the foundation, Coastal Credit Union, Compass Center and Habitat for Humanity for the ceremony. The Gattis Court home and another in Durham were funded by $200,000 in grants from the foundation.

Durham police are asking for help finding the driver of a hit-and-run crash from last week. Police said around 9:05 p.m. Thursday, June 27 a man was traveling southbound on the 800 block of Ellis Road on an electric scooter. Police said he was hit from behind by a dark-colored sedan.
