Carteret House Fire Victim Airlifted to Hospital
CARTERET, NJ — A badly burned man was helicoptered to a Livingston hospital on Sunday after a two-alarm fire broke out in the basement of a Roosevelt Avenue home. The cause of the June 7th fire at 694 Roosevelt Avenue – near Hayward Avenue and down the street from the Nathan Hale School – remains under investigation, authorities said. The male victim was not identified.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER The afternoon fire brought a swift response from Carteret firefighters, who found one of the home’s occupants in the basement where the fire apparently started, according to fire officials and media reports. The man suffered severe burns and was airlifted to the specialized burn center at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston. Two other people in the home escaped without injury. Police officials released a statement, saying that the educator reportedly resigned from her role in the school.
