While it's just an old superstition that cats will steal your breath, you'll gasp when you see how cute these cats are. All are available from local, Kansas City shelters. Just click on the link to each cat to get in touch with their respective shelter.

    Sylvester

If there are any Looney Tunes fans out there, Sylvester, from Meowy Matchmakers, is the cat for you. Sylvester's cartoon namesake was never as cute as this little guy though.

Sylvester loves other cats and would be best in a home with some feline buddies to romp around with. He's a little shy around people and not a big fan of loud noises, so it will likely take him a little time to get accustomed to you and his new surroundings. However, once you're in, you're in, and you'll have an adorable little cat who will keep all those pesky tweety birds at bay. You can learn more about Sylvester here.

    Jolly and Tao

Jolly and Tao's story will break your heart. They were left in a cardboard box in a woman's trash for pick up. Thank goodness the woman noticed these two brothers before the dump truck came along, and she and her neighbor put them up on Craig's List. Someone affiliated with The Animal Rescue Alliance took them in and is currently fostering them.

You've got to wonder what's wrong with people that someone would leave a cat in the trash, but it is reassuring for that one bad person, there were multiple good people that came along and helped these two guys out.

Let's get a better look though. Here's Tao.

They took a minute to build trust in the humans in their new home, but as long as they're together, they're brave little guys. They are a bonded pair and will need to be adopted together and were about 8 or 9 months old at the time of their listing. To learn more about them you can visit Tao's page or Jolly's page.

    Scribbles

Have you ever seen a tortoiseshell as cute as Scribbles? Born in October of last year, she's still just a baby but is as calm and as cuddly as can be. Although a youngster, she's not a cat that requires constant attention and would be fine for homes where everybody is at work during the day. So she's perfect for someone who wants a kitten but doesn't really have time for a kitten. Wait, there's more! She also gets along great with other cats and even dogs.

You can learn more about her here.

    Bella

What a long, strange trip it has been for Bella, the warm and cozy purr-machine. Born and raised in Hawaii, she was living with a family that was simply too loud for her. She's a bit on the shy side and with all the noise, she spent a lot of her time hiding away in a cabinet. The family felt bad about her quality of life and put her up for adoption. Soon after seeing how sweet Bella was, one of the volunteers at the Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter (FOPAS) swooped her up and took her home. Unfortunately the volunteer has had some health issues and had to bring her back to FOPAS.

This is where you come in. Since she is an older cat (almost twelve) and is on a urinary food to keep her from getting crystals, she is a candidate for permanent fostering. That means that FOPAS will pay for her food and medical care, and you get all the joy and companionship that Bella is so eager to give. She'd be a great option for someone who wants a cat but might not have the budget for it or for someone who is hesitant to adopt an older cat because of the potential vet bills. It's a win-win situation.

You can get in touch with the Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter by filling out their pre-adoption application. There's no obligation in doing so, but it is the first step in learning about, and maybe even meeting, your future cat.

    Inky

Last but not least we have Inky, an eight-year-old black beauty from Great Plains SPCA. Inky is another shy guy, but all these cats have gone through some trauma, being taken out of their home if nothing else, so a little pensiveness is perfectly normal. Inky just needs some time in a home with a loving person by his side, and he'll come out of his shell. If you think you're up to the task, get in touch with Great Plains and learn more about Inky here. He's a sweetheart.

That's it for this week. Want to look at more cats? Check out my profile here. Many of the cats featured on past posts are still available!
