Keep cool with these five amazing cats

It's so hot in Kansas City that there is little else to do than stay in and enjoy the company of a sweet cat. Don't have a cat? Want more cats? Here are five great options, all ready and waiting just for you at local area shelters.

Musta Kissa

Meowy Matchmakers is overflowing with black kittens right now, one of which is this little girl, Musta Kissa. I thought "oh what a cute name, like 'must kiss' with an Italian accent." Little did I know that "Musta Kissa" is Finnish for "black cat." All of Musta's siblings are also named "black cat" in different languages. Very clever, Meowy Matchmakers.

Musta Kissa is a sweet, rambunctious kitten who enjoys snuggling in between play sessions. She's loving life at her foster home, hanging out with her siblings all day. Lars

If you follow these posts, you might remember a light gray cat named Daisy from last week. This week we have her Friends of Parkville shelter-mate and best friend Lars. They'd be thrilled if they were adopted together, but not as thrilled as you would be to have a couple of sweetheart cats that get along like peanut butter and jelly.

Fair warning--Lars is a shy cat. He's not yet a year old yet, so he has plenty of time to come out of his shell. He just needs an owner with a little patience and understanding to get him there. Bringing Daisy along would certainly help him feel at ease too--adopting these two as a pair is just the right thing to do. Here are the two together:

Sriracha

Speaking of heat, next up is Sriracha, an orange and white beauty from Great Plains, SPCA. Sriracha is a bundle of energy. So much energy that she's not always perfectly lady like. She's not wild about being held for more than a minute, and she is in the habit of chewing on things when she gets excited. You might check with Great Plains if she's chewing on people, on furniture, or just anything she can get her mouth on. Best to know if it would be your fingers or your furniture at risk. What's for sure is that she's not the best pick if you have kids under the age of five. Otherwise if you want a lively, lovely cat to keep you entertained, Sriracha might be your girl. LuLu Lemon

LuLu loves attention from the people she loves and trusts, but it will likely take a while before she builds that love and trust in you. That's okay though, the effort will be worth it. Last but not least, if you just want a good old tabby cat, Knox might be your guy. He's terrific with other cats and dogs. He's snuggly, playful, and entertaining.
