It's been a year of firsts for Ludvig Aberg as he competes in his first full year on the PGA Tour. Now he'll enter his first FedEx Cup Playoffs beginning with the 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind on Thursday. Aberg enters the playoffs in sixth place of the 70 golfers in the 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship field, putting himself in a strong position to advance deep into the three-week playoff. The FedEx Cup Playoff field will shrink after each tournament, and with Aberg at +2000 to win the FedEx St. Jude Championship 2024, should you include the 24-year-old in 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship bets?

Scottie Scheffler is the +360 favorite, followed by Xander Schauffele (+750) and Rory McIlroy (+900) in the latest 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship odds. Patrick Cantlay lost in a playoff at last year's FedEx St. Jude Championship and at +2500 odds, is there value in him winning the 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship? Before locking in your 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship picks or PGA props, be sure to see the golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine .

Our proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June 2020. In fact, the model is up more than $9,500 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.

This same model has also nailed a whopping 13 majors entering the weekend, including the 2024 Masters -- its third Masters in a row -- and this year's PGA Championship and U.S. Open. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Now with the FedEx St. Jude Championship 2024 field set, SportsLine simulated the tournament 10,000 times, and the results were surprising. Head to SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard.

Top 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship golf predictions

One surprise: McIlroy, a four-time major champion and one of the top favorites, does not crack the top five this week. The World No. 3 has gone a decade since his last major championship victory, coming up just short against Bryson DeChambeau at the U.S. Open two months ago. McIlroy proceeded to miss the cut at the Open Championship last month, finishing at 11-over after the first 36 holes.

He ranks outside the top 40 on the PGA Tour in strokes gained from putting, driving accuracy and GIR percentage. The 35-year-old had a strong performance at this tournament last year, but he missed the cut in 2022. McIlroy has been consistently overvalued in the most important events of the year, and the model recommends fading him this week.

The model has also examined where Schauffele finishes. The 2024 Open Champion has been at his best with the most eyes on him this season. He's won two majors this season while finishing in the top 10 in all four major events and carried that big-stage success to the Olympics, where the American finished T-9. The 30-year-old is second in the FedEx Cup standings with 17 top-25 finishes in 18 events this season.

However, Schauffele has just one top 10 and no top five results at TPC Southwind over six career tournaments. He's finished 24th and 57th in each of his last two FedEx St. Jude Championship events at TPC Southwind. He's finished outside the top 45 in three of those tournaments, so when examining whether to take him at the second-lowest odds in the field, you'll have to weigh recent major success versus career struggles at the course. How to make 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship picks

The model has revealed where Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele finish, along with identifying five golfers with odds of 25-1 or longer to make a strong run at the title. Anyone who backs these longshots could hit it big. You can only see the model's picks here .
