Tigres UANL and Chivas de Guadalajara meet on Saturday in the Liga MX Apertura at Estadio Universitario. The hosts are unbeaten so far this domestic season but endured a poor Leagues Cup campaign which ended with a round of 16 loss to New York City FC although the visitors did not even get out of their group after finishing third of three teams. Coming into the fifth game of the new campaign and Veljko Paunovic's men have won three of four games with a draw to sit fourth and two points behind leaders CF Monterrey. Fernando Gago's side are ninth having won two of their opening four games and having lost once and Tigres boast six wins from their last 10 meetings with Chivas so the timing is not exactly ideal. Both will be keen to get back to Mexican action after their Leagues Cup failures and this one is interesting in that it pits Paunovic against his former club having coached Chivas before later taking the Tigres job.

Here are our storylines, how you can watch the match and more:

    How to watch and odds

    • Date: Saturday, August 24 | Time: 11 p.m. ET
    • Location: Estadio Universitario - Nuevo Leon, Mexico
    • TV: FOX Deportes | Live stream: Fubo (try for free)
    • Odds: Tigres -133; Draw +250; Chivas +320

    Team news

Tigres: Nahuel Guzman is suspended so will be unavailable for this one while Diego Reyes is also expected to miss out. Otherwise, Paunovic should have a more or less full squad to choose from ahead of this one as the Serbian tactician seeks to continue the current strong start to this term.

Possible Tigres XI: Rodriguez; Aquino, Pizarro, Purata, Angulo; Gorriaran, Carioca; Flores, Vigon, Cordova; Ibanez.

Chivas: Raul Martinez is injured and is unlikely to return before the end of this year while Luis Olivas is also likely to miss the remainder of this year and possibly season after knee surgery on an ACL this Thursday. Jesús Orozco Chiquete missed the Leagues Cup and is not expected to be back in time for this while Chicharito also missed the Leagues Cup but could return here.

Possible Chivas XI: Rangel; Mozo, Sepulveda, Briseno, Castillo; Gonzalez; Alvarado, Beltran, Gutierrez, Cowell; Marin.

    Prediction

This one should go with form and see Tigres pick up another win to remain unbeaten and push on towards the top of the Liga MX Apertura standings. Given the historic form advantage that has only seen the visitors avoid defeat four times in the last 10 visits, another narrow loss sounds about right. Pick: Tigres 2, Chivas 1.
