    Sirens: Juvenile arrested after setting fire to portable toilet; dogs left in hot vehicle; man says ex-girlfriend attempted to stab him

    CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

    Criminal trespass

    • A woman was trespassed from private property in the 1700 block of Niki Lane at the resident’s request at 12:55 p.m. on July 1.

    • Just after 2:10 p.m. on July 1, there was a report that two women trespassed in an outbuilding in the 300 block of South Berry Street just about 20 minutes prior. Officers were unable to locate them.

    • A homeless man was trespassed from Centralia College property in the 500 block of Centralia College Boulevard at campus security’s request at approximately 5:15 p.m. on July 1.

    Disorderly conduct

    • A woman was reportedly wielding a butcher knife at a park in the 100 block of South Silver Street at approximately 2 p.m. on July 1. Officers contacted the woman and found she had a knife sticking out of her backpack. Witnesses reported she did not have the knife in her hands or threaten anyone.

    Vehicle accident

    • Possible injuries were reported after an airbag deployed during a two-vehicle collision in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 5:35 p.m. on July 1.

    DUI

    • A 39-year-old Rochester man was arrested in the 1600 block of Harrison Avenue just after 11:15 p.m. on July 1 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for DUI.

    Assault

    • A man reported his ex-girlfriend punched him and attempted to stab him in the 300 block of South Yew Street at approximately 11:35 p.m. on July 1. The case is under investigation.

    CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

    Malicious mischief

    • A juvenile reportedly lit a portable toilet on fire in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street at approximately 8:55 a.m. on July 1. Maintenance crews successfully put the fire out. The juvenile was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center for second-degree malicious mischief.

    Disorderly conduct

    • A man was reportedly “waving his arms in the air and yelling at someone who is not there” at the intersection of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way at 10 a.m. on July 1.

    • A “crazy guy” was reportedly screaming and yelling while wearing no shirt in the 1200 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 6:30 p.m. on July 1. The reporting party asked officers to trespass the man from the property.

    Dogs in cars

    • Two dogs were reportedly locked in a car that was not running and had its windows up in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 12:30 p.m. on July 1.

    Vehicle accidents

    • A vehicle hit a fire hydrant in the 500 block of Northwest Pacific Avenue at approximately 1:55 p.m. on July 1. No injuries, or damage to the hydrant, were reported.

    • A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way just before 4:05 p.m. on July 1.

    • A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 5:05 p.m. on July 1.

    Criminal trespass

    • A homeless man was trespassed from a business in the 500 block of North Market Boulevard just after 3:25 p.m. on July 1 after the business reported he kept coming up the business’s stairwell.

    • Two tents were reportedly seen in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue at 3:30 p.m. on July 1. The reporting party asked that the occupants be trespassed from the property.

    Death investigation

    • Just before 4:25 p.m. on July 1, a resident in the 300 block of Southeast Washington Avenue reported she checked on her neighbor and found there was a smell coming from his apartment and he was unconscious and not moving. Fire personnel responded and confirmed he was deceased. The death is under investigation.

    Theft

    • At approximately 5 a.m. on July 2, a citizen reported his vehicle in the 700 block of Northwest West Street had been broken into at about 2 a.m. that morning. A pack of cigarettes was reported stolen.

    • At 5:40 a.m. on July 2, a citizen reported someone stole his electric skateboard out of his vehicle in the 100 block of Southeast Washington Avenue sometime between 2 and 5 a.m. that day.

    • A phone was reported stolen from the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 6:35 a.m. on July 2.

    FIRE AND EMS CALLS

    • Between Friday morning and Tuesday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 107 illness-related calls, 20 injury-related calls, 25 fire-related calls, 15 non-emergency service calls, 12 vehicle accidents, five Lifeline medical alerts, one overdose, one suicide-related call, one public assist request, one ambulance request and four other calls.

    JAIL STATISTICS

    • As of Tuesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 125 inmates, including 112 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 89 were reported male and 23 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

    • As of Tuesday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 18 inmates, including 11 booked by the Centralia Police Department, five booked by the state Department of Corrections, one booked by the Skokomish Tribe and one booked by the Lummi Nation.
