Chandler's Neighborhood Watch groups that hosted a community Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods, or GAIN event last year are encouraged to submit nominations for this year's Mayor’s Neighborhood Excellence awards.

Nominations are open through Friday, July 26, and can be completed online here .

The annual awards recognize Chandler neighborhoods for their participation in G.A.I.N. and those neighborhood leaders who continuously work to improve their community and inspire others to be more active and involved. Prizes for the winners will be applied towards this fall’s G.A.I.N. events.

There are two award categories available: Mayor’s Choice and People’s Choice. Mayor Kevin Hartke will select the winner for the Mayor’s Choice.

Online voting for the People’s Choice will be live Monday, July 29  through 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12 here .

The winners will be announced during the GAIN kickoff event, set for Saturday, Sept. 14, 9 a.m. at Chandler's downtown police station community room, 250 E. Chicago Street.

Questions about the awards program, contact Neighborhood Programs staff at 480-782-4348. For information or questions about the GAIN event on Saturday, Oct. 19, contact Crime Prevention Specialist Blanca Quezada at 480-782-4960.
