A former University of Minnesota diver wins first U.S. medal of the Paris Summer Olympics
Divers Sarah Bacon, formerly of the University of Minnesota, and Kassidy Cook have won the United States’ first medal of the Paris Olympics. Bacon and Cook took home the silver in the 3-meter synchronized springboard competition, held at the Aquatics Center in Saint-Denis, north of Paris. This is the first time the U.S. has medaled in the event since 2012.

Minnesota team strikes gold at AAU Nationals
From July 2 to 6, the World Taekwondo Academy Competition Team showcased their exceptional skills at the AAU Nationals in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The AAU Nationals, one of the world’s premier taekwondo tournaments, attracts nearly 4,000 top competitors from across North America. The World Taekwondo Academy Team emerged victorious, bringing home a total of 27 medals, including eight golds. Notably, seven athletes qualified for the USA National Team Trials, with one already securing a spot on the team. World Taekwondo Academy was the only team in Minnesota to qualify athletes for the team trials, set to take place in Greensboro, North Carolina, at the end of July. The Academy is poised to continue their winning streak and aims to bring back more gold from the USA National Team Trials.
