Not only is Minnesota’s fiber internet infrastructure growing — it’s getting easier than ever to connect to.

That’s because the rollout of the Xfinity network is now coming to Chanhassen, the eighth Minnesota city to be chosen for new expansion. This comes just a few months after Comcast announced the introduction of next-generation fiber internet in the cities of Cologne, Nowthen, Corcoran, Grant, Hugo, Rogers and Stillwater Township.

The addition of Chanhassen adds to the $525 million Comcast has already invested in technology and infrastructure across Minnesota over the last three years.

Those investments include a major rollout out of better, faster, more reliable high-speed internet in the city of Wayzata, where Comcast invested more than $20.2 million to bring broadband to some 8,000 homes in the area — a major development in local connectivity that you can learn more about right here .

The company shared the Chanhassen expansion will bring unmatched reliability to more than 10,500 homes and businesses in the city by the end of 2025.

Local business owners can look forward to Comcast Business’s suite of products — such as broadband speeds of up to 100 Gpbs and Comcast Business Mobile — while residents will be able to enjoy Xfinity’s full offering, including Internet, video, mobile, voice and managed home solutions.

“Reliable high-speed Internet is essential in today’s digital economy, which is why Comcast continues its commitment to connect more Twin Cities families and businesses to the moments that matter most,” Kalyn Hove, Comcast Midwest Regional Senior Vice President, said in a statement. “We are expanding our fiber highways in Chanhassen, strategically investing in areas undergoing significant growth. By establishing the best broadband infrastructure today, we are securing the economic prosperity of these communities for tomorrow.”

City officials have expressed keen optimism about the plan and the impact it will have on homes and businesses alike.

“We are pleased to welcome Comcast to our community,” Chanhassen Mayor Elise Ryan said in a statement. “Access to high-quality cable and internet services is essential for our residents and businesses, and having more options ensures that everyone can find a plan that best meets their needs. We look forward to the benefits that increased competition and improved infrastructure will bring.”

But ensuring that more people have access to these game-changing services is also of paramount importance.

Comcast notes that it will help close the “digital divide” through Project UP , the $1 billion initiative through which the company has helped tens of millions of people connect to the Internet.

This assistance includes helping jobseekers build digital skills, expanding Lift Zones — which bring superior WiFi to nonprofits, community centers, gyms, parks and more — and ramping up awareness of connectivity services like Internet Essentials , which offers eligible households low-cost, high-speed Internet for $9.95/month or Internet Essentials Plus for $29.95/month.
