A fire was reported at North Carolina's largest airport Thursday morning. According to the Charlotte Fire Department, the fire began around 8:15 AM this morning at the old traffic control tower at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

Four construction workers were briefly trapped by the blaze, but they were quickly able to escape without injuries.

It only took 10 minutes for the fire to be put out once firefighters arrived, and no operations were interrupted due to the fire being contained solely to the old control tower that is not currently in use.

Authorities are not yet certain how the fire began. We’ll have more on this story as new details emerge.
