Grace Potter’s concert series to benefit Vermont flood relief
Burlington, VT- Musician Grace Potter announced on Tuesday that this year’s Grand Point North Concert Series will now serve as a benefit for local flood relief. Proceeds from Potters sets on July 27th and 28th will go toward helping Vermonters while they continue assessing damage. There will also be a silent auction to raise additional funds.

In Groton, volunteers fight back against knotweed
GROTON—In stifling, almost oppressive heat and humidity, a small troop of aged, sweaty volunteers waged war against an invasive pest proliferating across the landscape. On the eighth day of the campaign, total combat had reached its zenith. Thousands of victims had been scythed down in the primes of their lives. The fields of battle teemed with heaps of rotting cadavers. Alan Eastman was gleeful. Japanese knotweed is a formidable opponent. The invasive weed aggressively expands, forming massive blocks of tall canes that completely crowd out native species reducing biodiversity.
RCMS July 21 concert features new artistic director
Sunday, July 21 at 4 p.m. —ROCHESTER—The Rochester Chamber Music Society opens its July 21 concert at 4 p.m. in the Federated Church of Rochester under the direction of newly appointed Artistic Director Adda Kridler. The afternoon concert features Gabriel Boyers, violin; Adda Kridler, violin; Maren Rothfritz, viola; and Kirsten Jermé, cello. The program includes “The Lark Ascending,” a consistent favorite, written by Vaughan-Williams and inspired by the poem of the same name. Also on the program are works by John Luther Adams and Haydn.
