The Chicago Bulls want Patrick Williams to be part of their long-term future. That much is clear after the team reportedly made a decision on his contract.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, the Bulls are planning to give the 22-year-old forward a five-year deal worth $90 million.

"Patrick Williams intends to sign a five-year, $90 million deal to return to the Chicago Bulls, league sources tell The Athletic and Stadium," Charania reported.

It is worth noting that Williams played in just 43 games in 2023-24 after suffering a foot injury that needed surgery. He finished the campaign with averages of 10.0 points , 3.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.

Sure enough, Williams has yet to live up to the expectations of a Top 5 pick after the Bulls drafted him No. 4 overall in the 2020 NBA Draft--way ahead of All-Star players like Tyrese Haliburton and Tyrese Maxey. Nonetheless, Williams did show flashes of brilliance, and the Windy City franchise is hoping he can turn into a more consistent contributor when healthy and with a more significant role.

The Bulls seem focused on starting a youth movement, as proven by their decision to trade Alex Caruso to the Oklahoma City Thunder for the 21-year-old Josh Giddey. Add the relatively significant and long-term financial commitment they made with Patrick Williams, and it sure looks like the Bulls are set for a full-on rebuild.
