Chicago Sky Coach Breaks Silence on Angel Reese's Major WNBA Award Win

    By Grant Young,

The WNBA announced on Tuesday that Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese has won the WNBA's Rookie of the Month award for June.

Reese securing this award should not come as a surprise. Not only did the "Chi Barbie" average 14.5 points and 13.2 rebounds per game, but she also set a WNBA record with 10 consecutive double-doubles (which is still ongoing).

And the Sky posted a video of head coach Teresa Weatherspoon delivering her team the news of Reese's win.

"We have a rookie of the month," Weatherspoon told her team.

The rest of the Sky team applauded Reese for a few moments before Weatherspoon started speaking about Tuesday's upcoming game against the Atlanta Dream.

Reese has already proven to be the steal of the 2024 WNBA Draft. Yet, now the question becomes whether Reese or Caitlin Clark should be considered the frontrunner for the WNBA 2024 Rookie of the Year Award.

As for now, Reese's focus will be on helping her Sky squad continue to push for the playoffs.

She'll also surely be looking to keep building upon that record-setting double-double streak she has going on right now.
