When Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky fell to the Seattle Storm on Sunday evening, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever jumped their rivals to take over the No. 7 spot in the WNBA standings.

The Fever’s 9-13 record barely edges out the Sky’s 8-12 record for seventh position.

In response to this news, countless fans flooded social media with the same statement about the 2024 Rookie of the Year race between Clark and Reese.

When the Sky held a slight edge in the standings, some analysts suggested that should put Reese in the ROTY lead over Clark.

"With the Sky's loss to the Storm, the Fever move into the 7th spot in the #WNBA for the first time this season According to 'experts' this officially makes Caitlin Clark the favorite for Rookie of the Year," one fan wrote.

"So now that fever is 7th seed above Chicago, does that mean Caitlin is leading the roty race? Or do the standards change now??" another asked.

"Indiana Fever has moved to 7th seed after the Sky lost to Storm. So, according to the media's 'STANDINGS MATTER' logic for ROTY, Caitlin Clark is the ROTY," another said.

Clark became the first rookie in WNBA history to record a triple-double on Saturday afternoon, notching 19 points, 13 assists and 12 rebounds in a stunning upset win over the league-best New York Liberty.
