NFL Analyst Reveals Ominous Prediction For Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears made some big moves and made some tough decisions in the offseason to hopefully make the team better for the long term. The most notable move was the decision to move on from Justin Fields at quarterback and select Caleb Williams with the first overall pick.

Chicago has been starving for an elite quarterback for basically as long as the franchise has been around, and Williams is the type of talent who might be able to become the best quarterback in the history of the franchise rather quickly.

Recently, Craig Carton spoke about expectations for the Bears coming into the 2024 season.

Here’s what he had to say.

The Bears have a tough road ahead of them in the NFC North

After going 7-10 last season, this Bears team does appear to be better and an eight or nine-win season is certainly realistic if Williams doesn’t have too much of a learning curve. However, as Carton mentions, the biggest obstacle for the Bears lies within their own division.

Both the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers also got better this offseason, and they were elite playoff teams last year in the NFC. While Chicago might be closer to them than they were last season, they still are not on the level of those two teams quite yet.

Even if the Bears come in third place in the NFC North, they could still have a very successful season. With a rookie quarterback, nobody is expecting them to win a Super Bowl in 2024, and the most important thing for the franchise will be to have Williams develop good habits on the field.

The current rebuild for the Bears has been a long one, and it felt like last season we might have been starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

With two first round picks on offense in Williams and Rome Odunze, the Bears might be explosive on the offensive side of the ball. That is certainly something that we haven’t seen from Chicago and would be a welcomed sight for their fans.

Even though coming in third place in the division might sound like a failure, it really could still be a solid season for the Bears considering what division they are in and where they currently stand in their rebuilding process.
