Legendary Chicago Bears defensive tackle Steve “Mongo” McMichael couldn’t be in attendance at Thursday’s Pro Football Hall of Fame game due to his battle with ALS.

But fortunately for him, his wife was.

Misty McMichael started trending on X following her appearance at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio, ahead of the NFL’s annual preseason Hall of Fame game while standing in for her husband.

Some of the social media reaction was about her choice of outfit like the comment below.

Others were of a more positive nature, applauding her for standing in for her husband who couldn’t make the journey from their home in Homer Glen, Illinois, to Canton.

Steve played 13 seasons for the Bears from 1982 to 1993, helping lead the team to six NFC Central division titles and a Super Bowl championship as part of the team’s vaunted 1985 defense, which many consider the best in NFL history.

A five-time All-Pro (two first team, three second team) and two-time Pro Bowler, Steve ended his career ranked second in Bears history with 92.5 sacks and he set a franchise record for most consecutive games played (191).

He was also named to the Chicago Bears All-Time Team and he was voted the 19th-best Bears player of all-time by Hall of Fame writers Don Pierson and Dan Pompei, who compiled a list of the Top 100 greatest Bears players.
