PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — One pitcher was just slightly better than the other.

CK Witte scattered six hits, struck out seven and tossed a complete game shutout as IVC beat Eureka 1-0 in a high school baseball game in Chillicothe on Tuesday. Gabe Perez knocked in the only run of the game in the seventh in a game that was chilly from the start with temperatures staying in the 40’s throughout the contest.

Tanner Wiegand was the hard-luck losing pitcher for the Hornets after allowing only two hits and striking out eight in his 6.1 innings of work. The game was moved to the turf at IVC after Monday’s all-day rain made Eureka’s field too soggy to play.

East Peoria beat Richwoods 6-1 in another prep baseball game. Washington and Dunlap won girls soccer games while East Peoria defeated Normal Community in softball.

Dunlap edged Benet Academy, 6-5, in a match-up of tennis teams that finished last season in the top four in the state.
