Fundraiser scheduled to help the Ross County Humane Society

CHILLICOTHE — Earlier this year the Ross County Humane Society broke ground on its new shelter. While this occasion has been years in the making the organization still needs help raising the funds for needed items that will be used in the new building.

To help raise the funds a fundraiser has been scheduled called Dueling for Dogs, the event is scheduled to feature musical guest Greg Higley performing at 5:30 p.m. and the Cleveland Keys playing dueling pianos at 7 p.m. on July 13 at the Chillicothe Elks Lodge on West 2nd Street.

In addition to live music, there will be a cash bar full of specialty and canned drinks, a food selection showcasing some of the best foods in Ross County and a silent auction. Member of the organizing committee Jan Nusbaum the community has already shown that it cares about this cause and will do what it can to raise the remaining balance.

"It's just amazing what people are doing to help," said Nusbaum. "I am overwhelmed with pride."

Currently, around $500,000 is still needed for the new shelter, which will be located on the same land as the current building. This money will help ensure that the shelter can be built and furnished with cages, desks and other supplies needed to run the facility.

While this is a fundraiser for the Ross County Humane Society there will be no dogs from the shelter at the event, however, there will be a slideshow featuring currently available dogs that would love to find a home.

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased from the Ross County Humane Society or at Ivy's in Downtown Chillicothe.
