309-Room Ontario Airport Hotel & Conference Center Scheduled for Auction
The Ontario Airport Hotel & Conference Center is set for auction next month due to owner Morgan Group Holding filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in April. The lender, Cathay Bank, had previously tried to force the property into receivership over a debt of $13.6 million, according to a report from the Commercial Observer. Despite renovations last year, the hotel will now be sold, with bids due by July 9th. Located near Ontario International Airport at 700 N Haven Ave. in California’s growing Inland Empire region, the hotel totals more than 232,000 square feet.

Bear spotted cooling off in Duarte home's backyard hot tub
A bear was caught on video thoroughly enjoying itself escaping the summer heat in a Duarte home's backyard hot tub.The homeowner said it spent about 15 minutes in the water. She added that bears often visit the foothills looking for something to eat, but this one wanted to take a dip instead.Bears are typically out of hibernation in the spring and summer, according to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW).The CDFW urges residents who encounter bears in their backyards to slowly back away and bang pots and pans together, or make loud noises, once safe.The CDFW also recommends allowing the bear plenty of room to leave.If the bear enters the home, residents should call 911 when safe.
Free spay and neuter clinic held in Thousand Palms

Banning to contract with county for animal services
During a special meeting on Tuesday, June 25, Banning City Council instructed City Manager Doug Schulze to negotiate with Riverside County Animal Services for one year of animal control and animal shelter services as the city continues to investigate a permanent solution following the termination of the its contract with ARE Animal Rescue for animal shelter services.
