Worst Starting Pitcher in baseball shuts down Yankees 4-2 in Washington

Washington, DC (New York Yankees App) - Starting Washington Nationals pitcher Patrick Corbin shut down the high powered Yankee offense on Tuesday night as the Nationals defeated the Yankees 4-2 in the second game of the three game set. Corbin, who has been the worst starting pitcher in Major League baseball for four years running, looked like the Cy Young award winner over Gerrit Cole. The Yankees lineup has failed horribly this season against pitchers with poor statistics.

Cole ended his night for the Yankees going five innings with three earned runs and seven strikeouts. He pitched well, but the Nationals made him pay for most of his mistakes.

The series of August games has followed familiar trends for the Yankeees, who have won most of their games, but haven't been able to avoid the poor play against soft competition. Carlos Rodon will take on Macjenzie Gore of the Nationals on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, with first pitch slated for 6:45 PM ET on Prime Video.
