Accidental fire damages Cordova mobile home
CORDOVA — A mobile home in Cordova sustained significant damage in a fire Tuesday afternoon. The Office of the State Fire Marshal determined the blaze to be accidental. A release by the fire marshal indicates the fire took place just after 4 p.m. Tuesday on Shockley Lane. A homeowner noticed the fire, and it took firefighters about 45 minutes to control the blaze. The fire marshal's office ruled the fire accidental due to a "mechanical and electrical failure in the water pump." No injuries were reported. The fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damage. The American Red Cross is assisting the occupants of the home, according to the fire marshal's office.
