    Hi. I’m Randy Tucker. I cover housing for The Enquirer, and I know how tough it is out there for homebuyers. If you’ve been slapped in the face with the reality that you can’t afford to buy a home in today’s market, you might think your only option is to rent an apartment.

    Not true.

    An Ohio-based developer is building hundreds of houses in the Cincinnati area designed specifically for renters – with at least two bedrooms and two baths, attached garages and natural grass yards where their kids and dogs can play. These so-called built-to-rent apartment homes offer most of the benefits and none of the pain of traditional homeownership.

    And as rising home prices and interest rates continue to push would-be homebuyers to the sidelines, developers say Cincinnati is ripe for expansion in the small but fast-growing built-to-rent sector.
