3-year-old missing girl from Northern Kentucky found in neighbor's 'cat house'

A 3-year-old girl has been located after she went missing in Northern Kentucky Friday night, Kenton County dispatch confirmed.

At approximately 7:14 p.m., Independence police responded to Wayman Drive with reports that a toddler was missing, dispatch said.

She was located Friday night, according to a Facebook post from her mom, Tiffani Nichol Carter, published around 11 p.m.

The girl, whose name is "Percy," was found in the neighbor's "cat house," Carter said in a different post. Carter added in her post that her daughter had "hid, fell asleep and was too scared by all the chaos [of the search efforts] to come out."

Carter confirmed her daughter was not injured in her post.

Social media posts suggest members of the Independence community rallied around Carter to help find her daughter.

"I AM SO BEYOND PROUD OF THE CITY OF INDEPENDENCE!!!! Everyone kicked into high gear and did exactly what they needed to do to find Tiffani Nichol Carter daughter tonight," one user wrote on Facebook.

"To all the volunteers, the police departments, fire departments, that went out on the search to help find her, 'Thank you,'" she added. "To everyone that shared on social media and got her name and picture out there, Thank You. To everyone that said a prayer, Thank You."

"It was a beautiful sight to see the thousands of people who showed up to look for this sweet baby girl," another user wrote. "In times where we aren’t sure of the future this baby brought everyone together."
