    Chill out: These Cincinnati rec centers are operating as cooling centers this week

    Cooling centers are opening throughout Cincinnati as temperatures near the triple-digits.

    Local environmental authorities are warning of dangerous heat and poor air quality this week. The Southwest Ohio Air Quality Agency issued an air quality alert for Tuesday, with levels of particulate matter in the "unhealthy for sensitive groups" range on the air quality index.

    Poor air quality is coupled with oppressive heat: Temperatures are expected to reach between 96 and 98 degrees on Tuesday, with heat index values as high as 100.

    The Cincinnati Recreation Commission will operate cooling centers at rec center locations during their normal operating hours. Here's where you can seek refuge in the air conditioning this week.
