A man who escaped River City Correctional Center custody Saturday night has been located.

According to River City executive director Scott McVey, 35-year-old Adam Cadet was taken back into custody by Cincinnati police overnight after he escaped around 10 p.m. Saturday. He exited a vehicle transporting him back to the Camp Washington prison after receiving medical treatment at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Prior to his apprehension, he had been sighted walking into Burnet Woods park in handcuffs and leg shackles.

The last time an inmate escaped River City Correctional was in July 2022 when Thomas Cromwell, 27, and Shawn Black, 29, escaped the facility, leading to a SWAT standoff at a Mason hotel . Cromwell was shot and killed by a Mason police officer after holding a woman hostage in a hotel room for 12 hours, and, armed with a knife, repeatedly threatened officers, an Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation review of the fatal police shooting found .

Black was subsequently apprehended in North College Hill.
