    Ohio school district details cyberattack that cost $1.7M

    DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A school district in southwest Ohio has revealed details about a December 2023 cyberattack that ended up causing an estimated $1.7 million in damage.

    According to NBC affiliate WLWT , the West Clermont Local School District, just east of Cincinnati, has refrained from providing details until now at the behest of law enforcement to “protect the integrity of the case.”

    The district said it has instituted new payment and authentication protocols. It has also conducted a scan of its entire network, finding no further malicious entries.
