Earlier this week, former Cincinnati Reds great Joey Votto got his first hit of the regular season and his first stolen base since 2021 in a rehab game for the Dunedin Blue Jays.

In four plate appearances Tuesday night, Votto had three hits, scored three runs and drove in two in Low-A Dunedin's rout of Clearwater. Two of Votto's hits were doubles.

Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider said last week that Votto missed several games because of lower back tightness. Votto, who signed a minor-league deal with his hometown Jays in March, has been recovering from an ankle injury suffered during spring training.

Votto hit .294 with 356 home runs in 17 seasons with the Reds, which are scheduled to visit Toronto in August.
