Happy Independence Day, Cincinnati! I’m Luann Gibbs, and I’m the calendar editor here at The Enquirer.

As a kid, I looked forward to the Fourth of July more than any other holiday (yes, including Christmas). Each year, my family constructed floats for our town’s annual parade. Riding in the parade, the cookout with homemade ice cream afterward and the huge fireworks display in the community park that evening were highlights of my summer.

Let America’s birthday bring out the kid in you, too. There are plenty of parades and festivals taking place throughout the region, you can peruse the full list here. And you better believe the sky will be lit up tonight, check out the times for all the (official) local fireworks displays here.

    Stay safe out there.
