Bengals cornerbacks Cam Taylor-Britt, Mike Hilton prove their masterful communication skills in fun video

Communication is absolutely crucial in an NFL secondary. Loud crowd noise can do a lot to disrupt how cornerbacks and safeties talk to one another before the snap. Even without the outside noise, being on the same page is what prevents big plays from being allowed.

This was a major problem for the Cincinnati Bengals last season. Opposing offenses tee'd off on Cincinnati's defensive backfield for 65 passing plays gaining 20 yards or more, with inexperienced safety play and injuries at cornerback being the main culprits.

It's something that needs definite improvement in 2024 . Fortunately, Cam Taylor-Britt and Mike Hilton are already locked in.

Taylor-Britt and Hilton don't even need to hear what they're saying to understand the other. The team's X/Twitter account posted a video of them reading each other's lips while wearing noise-cancelling headphones.

    They didn't miss once.

The acting out of eating an imaginary burger with fries is kinda cheating on Taylor-Britt's part, but figuring out teammate Andrei Iosivas' name definitely made up for it. That is not an easy name to figure out just from reading lips.

Things like this are extremely innocent and fun, but the connection and chemistry between cornerbacks cannot go understated in the importance of a defense. Taylor-Britt and Hilton are the two starters locked in to their roles while the third spot is up for grabs between Dax Hill and DJ Turner II .

Uncertainty next to them makes Taylor-Britt and Hilton all the more important to keep the group together. As the leaders of the position group, they must set the example for the younger players trying to prove their worth.

Lip reading may not be a requirement in that process, but the top two corners in Cincinnati are certainly on the same page entering 2024.
