Cincinnati Reds' 2025 schedule is out. Check out the highlights

One reason for Cincinnati Reds fans to watch the sneaky San Francisco Giants in free agency this winter, maybe even as it relates to pending free agent Juan Soto?

The Giants open next season at Great American Ball Park against the Reds with a three-game series starting March 27.

It's the start of a six-game homestand that finishes with three against the 2023 World Series-champion Texas Rangers, who are expected to have two-time Cy Young winner Jacob deGrom opening next season at full strength after this year's rehab and return from Tommy John surgery.

MLB schedules for 2025 were released by the league Thursday.

The Reds' schedule promises a frenetic finish to the NL Central race if they're in it, with all four division opponents making up the final 13 games on the schedule: at the St. Louis Cardinals (Sept. 15-17), home against the Chicago Cubs (Sept. 18-21) and Pittsburgh Pirates (sept. 23-25) and finally on the road against the Milwaukee Brewers (Sept. 26-28).

One of the bigger highlights on the home schedule figures to be July 28-30 when Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Dodgers play at GABP for a three-game set – with the promise that the powerful two-way player might be back from Tommy John surgery and pitching by then.

As for Soto's Yankees, the team the Reds shocked with a three-game sweep in New York earlier this month return to GABP June 23-25, part of an eight-team home interleague schedule that also includes three-game sets against the Seattle Mariners (April 15-17), Chicago White Sox (May 13-15), Cleveland Guardians (May 16-18), Minnesota Twins (June 17-19), Tampa Bay Rays (July 25-27) and Toronto Blue Jays (Sept. 1-3).

Wonder what Joey Votto will be up by then?
