August is typically our hottest summer month here in Cincinnati, but don't let the soaring temperatures keep you from seeing some of the summer's hottest acts and music festivals . We've scoured the concert calendar for shows providing a lot of entertainment for your hard-earned dollar. And hey, if you're rolling in dough, there are also some sold-out shows listed here, too – where the only tickets available are via the resale market. (There's always a way if you're willing to pay!)
Here's a look at some of the shows you won't want to miss.
Aug. 1: Ghost Funk Orchestra
Composer/multi-instrumentalist Seth Applebaum's one-man recording project has evolved into a powerhouse live band that blends soul, salsa and psych rock in new and exciting ways. The band, signed to local label Colemine Records , has played legendary festivals like Montreal Jazz, Telluride Jazz, Treefort and Austin's Psych Fest. The Harlequins and Touchdown Jesus open.

Aug. 1-3: Everwild Music Festival
Reggae figures prominently at this three-day music festival. Here's the lineup. Thursday: Stick Figure, Soja, Little Stranger, Sensamotion, James Begin & Friends, Two Depressed Kids. Friday: Rebelution, Tropidelic, Bumpin' Uglies, The Hip Abduction, The Quasi Kings, The Palmer Squares, Dale and the Zdubs, Rubix Groove, Benny & Zach, and Cultivated Mind. Saturday: The Movement, Tropidelic, Wookiefoot, Devin the Dude, Ballyhoo!, Kyle Smith, Tobyraps, Jarv, Apostle Jones, Brandon Hardesty.

Aug. 2: Creed: Summer of '99 Tour
Relive the Summer of '99 along with multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning rock band Creed and special guests 3 Doors Down and Finger Eleven. The show is officially sold out, but there are tickets on the resale market.

Aug. 2-3: Luke Combs: Growin' Up and Gettin' Old Tour
Country music superstar Luke Combs brings his summer stadium tour to Cincinnati for a two-night stint at Paycor Stadium, along with a stellar lineup of special guests. On Friday, see Cody Jinks, The Avett Brothers, Charles Wesley Godwin, Hailey Whitters and The Wilder Blue. Saturday's lineup includes Jordan Davis, Mitchell Tenpenny, Drew Parker and Colby Acuff. Both nights are officially sold out and, to prevent ticket scalping, Combs has chosen to use a delayed ticket release. This means fans will receive their mobile ticket 72 hours prior to the show. That's also when you might be lucky enough to score one on the resale market.

Aug. 3: Athens Community Arts and Music Festival
The home of Ohio University hosts a free community arts and music festival with some big names in indie rock. Artists slated to appear include Guided by Voices, Brainiac, Shilpa Ray, The D Rays, Lung, Heather Redman and the Reputation, Gardener, Laughing Chimes, The McGovern Brothers, Swing Big, Adam Remnant, Ivy Pierce, Exit 191, and Another Language Altogether. There's an artisan market with regional artists and vendors, and a local organization showcase, and the entire event will be American Sign Language interpreted.

Aug. 8-11: Voices of America Country Music Fest
You best be thinking about your getup, because this country music festival boasts theme nights as well as an all-star lineup. Thursday is Camo Country Night, Friday is Small Town USA Night, Saturday is Runway Rodeo Night, and Sunday is Leave the Night (NE)On. Here's who's playing. Thursday: Ernest, Larry Fleet, Thomas Mac, Blake Tyler. Friday: Jason Aldean, Laura Alaina, Chase Matthew, Cooper Alan and more. Saturday: Keith Urban, Brett Young, Brian Kelley, Michael Ray and a special late-night performance with Diplo. Sunday: Sam Hunt, Russell Dickerson, Priscilla Block, Maddie & Tae. Another 20 artists also perform during the day Friday through Sunday.

Aug. 9: I Love The '90s
If you vibe the music of the '90s, this tour will have you reminiscing about the trend-setting decade with some big names in rap, hip-hop and R&B: Vanilla Ice, Rob Base and Montell Jordan.
English band Bush released its debut album "Sixteen Stone" in 1994, and while that may seem like just a few years ago to Gen X, let the reality sink in that Loaded: The Greatest Hits Tour celebrates the band's 30th anniversary. Thirty. Years. Get tickets and relive your youth. Special guests Jerry Cantrell (of Alice in Chains) and Candlebox open the show.

Aug. 18: The Doobie Brothers
Four-time Grammy Award-winners and Rock & Roll Hall of Famers The Doobie Brothers bring their summer tour to Riverbend. The lineup features core band members Tom Johnston, Michael McDonald, Pat Simmons and John McFee. Steve Winwood opens.

Aug. 22: Green Day: The Saviors Tour
Green Day will be playing the albums "Dookie" and "American Idiot" in their entirety at this show. The albums, considered part of a loose trilogy that includes the latest album "Saviors," are celebrating milestone anniversaries: 30 years for "Dookie," 20 for "American Idiot." The tour includes support from The Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid and the Linda Lindas.

Aug. 25: King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard
This prolific Australian psychedelic band has toured the U.S. plenty of times since their 2012 debut, but this is their first visit to the Queen City. Don't miss it.
Four-time Grammy Award-winner Cash and her husband, songwriter, producer and creative partner John Leventhal celebrate 30 years of songs, stories and the re-release of The Wheel at this intimate show. A complimentary pre-concert reception features live local music, light bites from Ollie's Trolley and NYPD Pizza, and craft beer tastings from HighGrain Brewing Co. At the time of publication, only a few seats remain for this show.

Aug. 28: Ms. Lauryn Hill & The Fugees
Five-time Grammy Award-winner and notable hip-hop, R&B and fashion/style icon Lauryn Hill reunites with The Fugees to co-headline an extension of the Miseducation Anniversary Tour. Hill's son Joshua Nesta "YG" Marley opens the show.

Aug. 29: Thomas Rhett
This post-game concert takes place after the Reds vs. Oakland Athletics game and benefits Love One International, a charity providing medical care for the children and families of Uganda.

Aug. 31: MidWest Friends Fest
This all-ages music festival brings together 20 awesome local, regional and national indie, punk, emo, rock, alternative and power pop bands for a whole-house show. Bands include Teens In Trouble, Bat Boy, The Dreaded Laramie, Camping in Alaska, Mint Green, Kerosene Heights, Honeycrush, Pinksqueeze, Routine Fuss, OK Cool, FinalBosssFight!, Manor Gates, Bear the Moon, Dustbin, Ryan Rockwell, Scarlet Street, Abandoned Malls of America, As It May, Tooth Lures A Fang, and Alex Kasznel & the Board of Directors.
