Bengals 1st-Rounder Gets Update After Being Carted Off Field

Leaving the practice field on a cart is never good. But for Cincinnati Bengals first-round pick Amarius Mims, it didn't mark the end of his rookie season.

In fact, he shouldn't miss any time at all.

After leaving practice early Thursday, Mims told reporters that he exited on a cart as a precaution because of the heat. He didn't suffer any injury.

"I'll be back tomorrow. I'm good," Mims said to the media via Pro Football Talk's Michael David Smith . "The heat is the heat. I'm fine, man. I'm good."

Cincinnati.com's Kelsey Conway reported Mims used cold towels to try and cool down prior to leaving the field on a cart.

"Amarius Mims is being carted off the field," Conway wrote on X (formerly Twitter). "It's really hot in Cincinnati today, he was seen having cold towels put on him moments before but unsure if anything else is going on at the moment."

The August heat can be especially difficult on players such as Mims, who stands at 6-foot-8 and 340 pounds. But the good news is he expects to be back practicing Friday.

The Bengals have high expectations for Mims after they drafted him at No. 18 overall in the 2024 NFL draft.

Mims has worked with the first-team offense during the Bengals training camp. Projected Cincinnati starting right tackle Trent Brown has not practiced.

The Bengals placed Brown on the Active/Non-Football Injury List at the beginning of training camp.
