The Cincinnati Reds have a superstar on their hands.

And in case you already knew that the ceiling just keeps getting higher for Reds Shortstop Elly De La Cruz .

On Monday, in the series opener against the Miami Marlins, the Cincinnati Reds kept their playoff hopes alive with a 10-3 victory at LoanDepot Park. Although the game featured the longest home run in majors this season, it was Elly De La Cruz that stole the attention once again of the league. The 22 year old hit two homers in the win, moving his season total to 20 on the season.

The first of two homers came in the first inning with Jonathan India on base. The Reds quickly got ahead to a 2-0 lead after a 411 foot home run to right center field. It had an exit velocity of over 109 MPH.

The party didn't stop there for De La Cruz as he hit his second homer of the day in the top of the eighth inning. It was a solo shot this time for Elly as he sent this one off reliever Shaun Anderson for 428 feet with an exit velocity of 108.1 MPH once again to right center field.

He finished the night 4 for 5 with three RBIs and four extra base hits, which all had a contact exit velocity of 108 MPH.

Elly De La Cruz is on pace for 29 home runs, 70 RBIs, and 82 stolen bases. Although the competition in the National League is intense at the top, If he puts up those numbers he deserves to be in consideration for Most Valuable Player in 2024.

The Reds will continue the series with the Marlins as they look to win their second game in a row. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:40 PM EST.
