Boulevard Brewing Co. in Kansas City was named one of the 10 best breweries in the U.S.

Kansas City, Missouri’s brewery, Boulevard Brewing Co., was named one of the 10 best breweries in the country. This was the result of an annual event held by the U.S. Beer Open Championships. The event was held on July 9 at Oxford, Ohio.

Breweries from the coast of Kona, Hawaii to the rocky coast of Portland, Maine sent more than 9,000 beers representing over 170 different styles to the 2024 U.S. Open Beer Championship. (Source.)

I can remember when Boulevard Brewing Co. began, and when its Pale Ale was gaining popularity. Today, the brewery has a massive complex that you can tour. There's even a happy hour plus tour (they should call that the happy tour).

The Beer Hall and the Gift Shop are also at the Tours and Recreation Center. The Beer Hall is on the second floor where you'll find food and plenty of beer options, and you might want to take that out to the large deck.

Boulevard Brewing Co. was founded in 1989 by John McDonald who is now retired. He's a former KU grad who created an amazing legacy.

In 2013, McDonald and the president of Duvel Moortgat (a fourth-generation leader of the company) had a conversation. By 2014, Boulevard Brewing Co. joined Duvel Moortgat's family of breweries.

Duvel Moortgat was founded in 1871 in Belgium by Jan-Leonard Moortgat. Still going strong over a century and a half later.
