Keep yourself and your trusty horse cool in this environment
So much for our nice cool riding weather. We (and our horses) are now being blasted with HOT weather. There are a number of ways to keep ourselves and our trusty riding companions cool in this environment. Always provide water and salt (either free-choice or added to their feed). Stick to gaiting down the shady trail when the humidity isn't super high added to the ambient temperature. If you don't have shade (think outdoor arena and road riding), limit your riding to early morning or later toward evening. Your horse will thank you.
