CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — A man who was previously convicted of firearms trafficking without a license is back in jail after U.S. Marshals say he failed to report to his halways house and was found with an unregistered machine gun.

Edgardo Quinones-Hiraldo, 35, of Puerto Rico, failed to report to the Dismas Residential Reentry Center in Clarksburg and was put on escape status by the U.S. Bureau of Prisons on July 18, according to a U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) press release sent Monday, July 22.

Quinones-Hiraldo was serving a sentence there for a 2022 conviction for federal sentence for firearms trafficking without a license.

Marshals took Quinones-Hiraldo into custody at a home on the 600 block of Hart Street at around 6 p.m. on July 19, and found “several firearms” in the building, including “an unregistered machine gun,” the release said.

“The U.S. Marshals Service acted quickly to apprehend this fugitive who chose to not report to his facility as directed. In doing so, it also appears other criminal acts were thwarted, preventing additional harm to our community,” Terry Moore, acting U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of West Virginia said in the release.

Quinones-Hiraldo is currently being held in the North Central Regional Jail.
