PARKERSBURG — Work is continuing on the flood wall mural as artists are working on creating images that tie into the history of the area. Parkersburg man charged with first degree murder
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - A Parkersburg man wanted in connection to a woman’s body found in southern West Virginia was taken into custody on Tuesday. According to the Parkersburg Police Department, Tony Williamson was taken into custody by the Parkersburg Narcotics Task Force on 7th Street before 4 a.m. on July 2. Police Chief Matt Board states he was taken without incident after he briefly tried to flee from authorities.

PARKERSBURG – Marty Vierheller claimed he would never coach any girls basketball team other than Parkersburg Catholic High School. He held true to his word. After spending 30 seasons with the Crusaderettes, including the first 12 years as an assistant coach, Vierheller decided to retire after leading the program to a Class AA state championship in 2022 and multiple appearances at the state tournament in Charleston.

West Virginia officials are looking for a man from the Mountain State that escaped a correctional center. Officials say Gregory Dale Stewart escaped from the Parkersburg Correctional Center while he was on furlough to go to church on Sunday.
