    Two people in custody after deputy pursuit in Clarksville

    CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was involved in a pursuit Friday afternoon that resulted in the apprehension of two suspects on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard and College Street.

    The sheriff’s office said they had been investigating a stolen vehicle at the B&L Market on College Street. When they tried to make contact with the driver, a fight broke out and shots were fired by the deputy. The suspect then fled on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard.

    The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) said that the reasons for the confrontation between the deputy and the driver are under investigation.

    A passenger reportedly exited the vehicle while it was still in motion shortly thereafter. A statement from the TBI said that the passenger had been shot. A deputy took that passenger into custody while the suspect vehicle fled back down College Street.

    Later, another law enforcement officer was able to stop the suspect vehicle at a third location. The TBI added that the driver of the suspect vehicle had also been shot.

    Both suspects were taken into custody and taken to area hospitals, though their current conditions are not known at this time. The deputy involved in the shooting incident was not injured, according to the sheriff’s office.

    The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said that the investigation is active. No additional details have been released.
