TCI Recruiting Roundup: Clemson Not Finalist for 5-Star OL Target

While David Sanders has now set a commitment date, Clemson is no longer in contention.

The 5-star offensive line target (Providence Day) will announce on August 17, and the four finalists are Georgia, Tennessee, Ohio State and Nebraska.

Sanders was arguably the Tigers’ top target in the 2025 class, regardless of position, picking up the very first offer of the class last summer. After multiple visits earlier this year, many pegged Clemson as the frontrunner coming out of the spring.

However, once we got into the summer months, that momentum waned, as Sanders steadily trended in the opposite direction. He is widely considered one of the five-best players in the class regardless of position and the top tackle prospect in the country.

With Sanders headed elsewhere, that means Clemson will have hit on just one of six offensive linemen to take official visits that first weekend in June. Hardy Watts, Mario Nash Jr, Mal Waldrep and Max Buchanan all committed to other schools, with the Tigers securing a commitment from 4-star Rowan Byrne the first week of June.

Clemson currently has three offensive linemen committed, with 4-stars Brayden Jacobs and Easton Ware also a part of the class. The staff has been looking to add at least one more offensive lineman to the group, and with the early signing period still months away, there is plenty of time to zero in on a new target if the coaches choose to do so.
