Witnessed an interesting new way that they’re doing fare inspections on BART now. First, a couple of fare inspectors showed up and were just observing in the middle of the car by the doors for a couple of minutes. Then a couple more passed by and positioned themselves at the other end of the car. And only as the train was leaving the station did the rest of them come in from the previous car and they all started checking fares from all three doors. It was like a fare evasion sting operation. A couple of the fare evaders stood up and went to wait by the doors, but there was literally no place for them to run to. They removed 6 or 7 fare evaders like this. Looks like they ran out of blatant fare evaders and are now targeting the “runners” who bolt to a different car as soon as they see the fare inspectors.
