A 26-year-old Allegany County man was killed Wednesday in a one-car crash in Steuben County.

New York State Police based in Bath responded to a report of a fatal motor vehicle accident on state Route 371, near state Route 21 in the town of Cohocton, around 4:55 p.m.

Police said the preliminary investigation determined that a 2017 Dodge Caravan was northbound on state Route 371 when it passed another vehicle in a no-passing zone. Police said the driver, 31-year-old Lukas J. Ellsessor, of Angelica, lost control of the vehicle and exited the roadway, causing the vehicle to roll over.

The passenger, who state police identified Friday as Adrian V. Gregory-Kielbasa of Angelica, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Ellsessor was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester for minor injuries, police said.

    The investigation is continuing.
