In anticipation to the start of the 2024 college football season, college football personality Pat McAfee announced Thursday that he'll air his "Pat McAfee Show" from Morgantown, West Virginia, before the West Virginia Mountaineers' season opener against the No. 8-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions.

"Our show will be live in Morgantown, West Virginia, on Friday," McAfee said.

McAfee, who kicked for West Virginia from 2005-08, has frequently displayed his Mountaineers pride throughout his coverage of college football and the NFL.

He is also notable for his crucial two missed field goals in West Virginia's devastating 13-9 loss to the Pittsburgh Panthers in the 2007 season, which cost the Mountaineers a potential BCS National Championship appearance.

McAfee also declared that this season's meeting between the Nittany Lions and Mountaineers is West Virginia's biggest home opener since the 1998 season when the program hosted the then-No. 1 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes.

"Biggest home opener for the West Virginia Mountaineer football team since 1998," McAfee added.

McAfee added that the show will be set up near the Life Science Building on the University of West Virginia campus, which also happens to be the site of the former Mountaineer Field, where West Virginia played from 1924-79.

"Our show's live, noon Eastern," McAfee stated. "I think we're going to be near the Life Science Center building. It's where the original stadium was in Morgantown, West Virginia. This all kind of came together a little bit late, so some of the spots [are] not necessarily great, but that is a very easy-to-get-to spot…"

The Aug. 31 matchup between West Virginia and Penn State is scheduled for noon (ET) on Fox. Penn State's last defeat in the hands of West Virginia came in 1988 and holds a 49-9-2 record all-time in the series.
