When you talk about the 2025 NFL Draft, the quarterback class has been highly divisive. There is talent to get excited about, but it feels like each one has something making evaluators second guess. That includes Texas A&M signal caller Conner Weigman , who might be the biggest boom-or-bust quarterback to watch.

Weigman has shown big time talent with the opportunities he’s had the last two years. In nine games, he has thrown for 1,875 yards and 16 touchdowns. That includes just two interceptions thrown, while also added two more rushing touchdowns on the ground. The problem, those nine games Weigman has played are the only ones he’s been available for during his Aggie career so far.

Injuries have derailed Weigman so far, making his draft projection pretty volatile so far. Despite that, there are a lot of prominent draft analysts who are buying into the hype. NBC Sports NFL Draft analyst Connor Rogers joined The First Team NFL Draft and College Football Podcast to discuss various prospects, including Weigman.

This is what Rogers had to say about the Aggie gunslinger, and his NFL Draft potential:

“It is a big projection with Conner Weigman from Texas A&M because he got hurt this year. These are the guys you really have to pick your places. You can’t do this with six guys in a position group or you’re an absolute madman. You really have to pick your spots. You talk about people finding the receipts, like what do you think NFL executives are doing right now? Do you think they’re punching in first round grades right now? Grades change throughout the season.

With Weigman, he has a big time arm. When you watch him challenge coverage, whether it is outside the numbers or in the middle of the field, tight windows, it is there. He can do it. The arm is very lively to me. He is fearless as a runner. He can really move, lower his shoulder and make big plays. When you watch all the third downs, and it’s a small sample size right now, but he is decisive and he is confident. He knows exactly where he needs to go with the football and he has the physical talent to get the football there. That was a sample size where if this is who he is, he can be a big time player. When you miss that much of the season, it’s hard to know.

He’s a former big time baseball recruit coming out of Texas. This is an athlete where it was decision time. When you look at that kind of athletic background, and what I’ve seen on tape, he’s got every bit of first round tools. I honestly sat on the fence with that one because first round ability doesn’t mean you’re a first round player. You have to see it throughout the season. You are going to see various analysts have him as the top quarterback coming out of the summer.”

    Roberts’ Take

Summer Scouting is about breaking down the film, while also being able to project forward. It isn’t a final grade, so it is important to consider a full year of development. That’s what can make this process very, very tricky. When it comes to Weigman, it doesn’t take a great evaluator to see the traits. He is one of the more natural draft eligible quarterbacks in the class, possessing plus velocity and the ability to attack every level of the field. Weigman is also a good athlete who has no issue navigating the pocket and can make plays pulling the football down as a runner. A nine-game sample size is just too small. Weigman is a wait-and-see prospect with upside to get excited about.
