    Students participate in mock DWI crash during conference in Columbia

    COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

    Students from 10 Missouri high schools participated in a mock DWI crash Monday during a leadership conference at Stoney Creek Hotel in Columbia.

    The TRACTION (Teens Taking Action To Prevent Traffic Crashes) conference is being held through Tuesday, according to a press release from the Missouri Department of Transporation.

    Students from schools including Harrisonville, Madison, Odessa, Battle, Blair Oaks, Winfield, Smith-Cotton, Hollister, Marceline and Belton participated in the event, the release says.

    Several agencies and groups participated in the event, including the Columbia Fire Department, I-70 Towing, Parker-Millard Funeral Home, Boone County Sheriff’s Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Columbia Police Department and MU Air Medical Service, according to the release.
